a history

A nearly two-century-long history that begun in the centre of Modena in the early 1800s. In a small attic in Via Malatesta, enclosed within the city walls and right in the heart of the historic medieval centre, the first row of barrels was crafted by Amedeo Pedrazzi, who would hand down a vibrant passion for the Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena to the future generations. The Pedrazzi family's vinegar cellar then, step by step, goes through the meticulous formation process of this nectar, and generation after generation, more and more barrel “batteries” have joined the first and oldest one.
The attics became three, the batteries twenty-two, and for over a century and a half the condiment produced was reserved exclusively for family members and a few close friends.
It was only in 2010 that the decision was made to delight the most refined palates by making its production of aged balsamic condiment available outside the family walls.
So A-Ventidue was born: the name comes from the Twenty-two active production lines and their respective ageing lines, because A-22 is also the name of the motorway that marks the route that the Acetaia has taken in its 200 years of history, starting from Modena through Campogalliano and Carpi.
Nothing changed, in fact, 'Via Malatesta', the first battery dating back to 1830, is still active, with its eleven small dark wood casks and a large barrel, where the flavours of almost two centuries of history still lie.
